兔毛的形態分類同樣重要。兔毛按形態分為細毛、粗毛和兩型毛三類——細毛占85%-90%，粗毛占5%-10%，其余為兩型毛。粗毛含量高的兔毛更受市場歡迎，價格也更高。

The length of the hair growth period affects grading. Research has shown that long haired rabbits have the fastest hair growth within one month after shearing, followed by the second month, and the hair growth rate slows down in the third month. Changing the hair growth period from 91 days to 61 days can increase the total annual hair production by 20-25%.
